WENATCHEE, WA. &nbsp;Aluminum, hand applied copper and aluminum leaf, pigment, sealers. 38 ft x 25 ft x 2 ft. This 4-story interior wall sculpture is designed to activate and enliven the Mish ee twie Building at WVC. Inspired by lidar images of the Wenatchee River, the piece reflects flowing water and the geologic history of the Valley. The waterjet cut and metal-leafed aluminum “ribbons” undulate on the wall, flowing down the staircase and create movement across 3 floors. ISSAQUAH, WA. &nbsp; Aluminum, powdercoat. Under bridge “creek” section is 100 ft x 14 ft. Vertical “waterfall” is 30 ft high x 23 ft wide x 6 ft deep. This site-specific piece was inspired by the nearby watershed creek and also the flow of information and people at a busy corporate campus. I worked with project architects and engineers to develop this work which is integrated with the structures (bridge and wall). The horizontal “river” design flows down the wall in a 2-layered sculptural “waterfall”, with curves and openings. This artwork was inspired by community input and the beautiful tree-filled parkland around Sligo Creek near the future Dale Drive lightrail station. This artwork was inspired by the night blooming datura plant native to the Sonoran Desert. I worked with the design team and community to develop this site-specific artwork. The seven very large sculptures hang from the walls on 3 sides of this new light rail station parking garage. When designing this artwork, we considered the multiple viewing opportunities - from the freeway, pedestrians on the ground, above on the platform and trains etc. The artwork has integrated lighting, which makes it a piece that changes from day to night and thus can be seen 24/7. (Three sides of tower) “Wonder” was inspired by all the areas of study in Huestis Hall - neuroscience, marine biology, ecology, mycology, botany, microbiology etc. The educational contexts’ cross-pollination of ideas from research and teaching laboratories was very exciting to explore. This artwork creates beautiful visual links between the biology and neuroscience labs, utilizes the changing light through the day and seasons (changing shadow play) , as well as welcoming visitors. This large sculptural wall piece, filled with multi- scaled shapes, enlarged to a fantastic degree, invites viewers to see processes and connections with living systems, builds connections with the main entrance, helps with wayfinding, and reminds people of the integrative work going on all around them. YAKIMA, WA.&nbsp; Aluminum, nylon. 10 ft x 15 ft x 70 ft. This artwork was inspired by wheel line irrigation systems and the rolling hills around the Yakima Valley. The eleven 6 ft diam. open metal wheel shapes are suspended from the ceiling at varying heights and distances from one another. The white translucent fabric on the wheels dynamically picks up the shifting light of the day and seasons. The 2-story atrium sculpture is inspired by the Chicago River and the significant source of commerce the river has represented for the city. The sculpture incorporates a sense of forward and reverse flows, representative of the civil engineering feat of reversing the direction of the Chicago River in 1900.
